What is SVRN - Sovereign AI?
OceanPal is launching SovereignAI with a $120M investment to commercialize NEAR Protocol through a NEAR-based digital asset treasury and decentralized AI cloud platform powered by NEAR + Nvidia. Backers include Kraken, Proximity, Fabric Ventures, G20 Group, and the NEAR Foundation.
SovereignAI aims to become the leading public vehicle for exposure to NEAR and AI infrastructure, targeting at least 10% of NEAR’s total supply over time. OceanPal will continue its shipping business while expanding into AI + blockchain to enable user-owned AI and autonomous agent commerce.
The advisory board includes Illia Polosukhin and Lukasz Kaiser — two of the researchers who helped invent the AI model design that powers ChatGPT, Gemini, Claude and almost every modern AI system — along with leaders from Fabric Ventures, Nscale, Sandhill East, and QuickNode.
